Why We Decided to Update Our Name


More than 100 years ago, our company started out in Minneapolis, which led to the company name Uptown. Thanks to our dedication to delivering unbeatable plumbing services with a smile and always at competitive prices, we have grown tremendously across the decades. Today, we are proud to serve clients throughout the entire Twin Cities – Minneapolis and St. Paul – greater metropolitan area. As we continue to expand and save people from major plumbing problems, we wanted our name to reflect the company we have become.


We have 50 fully-stocked plumbing trucks working all over the Twin Cities at any given time, not just Minneapolis. It costs nothing for our experts to drive out to Woodbury, Maple Grove, Lino Lakes, oranywhere in the region. Service prices are the same regardless of where you live, and we never spring surprise charges on you.

Our office, call center, and dispatch is centrally located in the Twin Cities, right here in Minneapolis. However, our technicians live all over the Twin Cities! They take their trucks home at night and drive directly to their first call in the morning for both client and technician convenience. If our technician lives in Maple Grove, we try to have them start and end day in the Northwest Metro area, for example. We call each technician into our headquarters a couple times a week for training updates and truck restocking. Otherwise, they are being efficiently routed job-to-job all day long. This allows us to get to homeowners fast and keep costs down, which we rollover to our customers with competitive prices.

We decided to become Hero Plumbing, Heating & Cooling to make it clear to our clients that we have a large service area. We did not get bought out by another company. We are still the same people you know and trust to manage your plumbing jobs.

We have been family owned since 1914. The Ridler family started the company in South Minneapolis and Pete Savage worked for the Ridler family in the 1970s. Pete had the incredible opportunity to purchase it in 1982. In turn, our current owner, Josh Savage, bought the business from his own father in 2010. You do not get much more family owned and operated than that!

Furthermore, Pete was born and raised in Minneapolis and raised Josh in South Minneapolis until he was 10. The Savages we moved to Eagan, where Josh graduated from Burnsville High School in 1996. Today, Josh, his wife, and their two kids live in Eagan, a couple of miles from where he grew up.

All in all, Hero Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is a company of people who live and work in the community with you, from our owner to our newest team members. We proudly give back to our communities through our community centers, farmers markets, homeless shelters, and variety of other programs because we love the Twin Cities and the people who make it our home.
